With local elections around the corner, The Western Bay of Plenty District Council asked us to develop a campaign to elect councillors that reflect a diverse community. With apathy and distrust of local politics on the rise, our challenge was to unite people under a common purpose – one which would attract both voters and new candidates.
Domino Effect
People are more likely to vote if there are candidates that resonate with them and their values. Our campaign strategy focused on generating quality, diverse candidates, in order to engage more residents, then driving home their role in getting out in voting for change.
Attract, Engage and Inspire
We developed three key campaign stages:
Attract potential candidates to run for council, by making it feel more accessible.
Engage the candidates to get to know them and their vision.
Inspire the community to get out and contribute by voting.
Poll Party
We created the Poll Party – a one day voting event to generate interest amongst the community.
Single source of truth
All campaign communications directed to a dedicated microsite housing all important information.
