Barrett Homes is an ambitious group builder, steadily growing their footprint throughout Aotearoa since 2013. We partnered with them on a refresh to help elevate their brand in a sea of cookie cutter competitors. Our brand refresh gives new meaning to the ‘family tree’ logo, distinguishing Barrett as a company that is anything but transactional.
Welcome to the whānau
Barrett Homes is a family brand through and through. Not only are there family members throughout the business – customers trust them enough to recommend Barrett to their own families. Whānau is the essence of our strategy, a focus that resonated with both the company and their customers.
Roots run deep
Our logo redesign is about creating emotional connections - putting down roots with neighbours, friends, and family. We added literal roots to the existing mark to represent whakapapa; a symbol of rootedness to that place called home. A fuller trunk was also crafted to represent health, strength and growth.
It was important to reflect the real culture of Barrett Homes in the way the brand talks. We embraced the blended use of English and te reo, as an authentic voice for today and vision for the future of lasting relationships with iwi.
In a convoluted marketplace, it’s hard to stand out through our words alone. We designed this brand to be beautifully simple and welcoming – driven by a clean design and warm aesthetic.
Sunrise to Sunset
Standing out in a sea of green and blue, the Barrett Homes orange tones are optimistic and energetic; inspired by the vibrant orange of the tōtara tree’s fruit and its deep red wood colour.
Stepping it up
Barrett Homes offers a higher quality product than other group builders – with a finish closer to a Design and Build without the complexity or associated costs. By pairing the minimalistic aesthetic of our brand font with our serif typeface, we elevated Barrett Homes into a different category.
